Pet Puppy Info "Boy vs. Girl"
This is a personal perspective of the typical gender differences in my beagle puppies, this is for
my beagle puppies who are spayed/neutered between 8 and 14 weeks. Other breeds, beagle
puppies from other environments, and beagles not spayed/neutered during this time may be very
different.

Beagles are generally sexually mature at 8+ months of age, physically mature around 8 to 12
months of age, structurally mature at 18 months of age, and mentally mature at 18-24 months of
age.

Neutered Boys

  1. Generally more affectionate.
  2. Generally won't mark their territory.
  3. Less likely to roam looking for love, but may roam in pursuit of quarry (ex: rabbits, squirrels, etc.)
  4. More likely to play with the kids.
  5. Less likely to bark at strangers.
  6. More likely to challenge your authority at sexual maturity, but not often thereafter.
  7. More likely to take training time as play time and act silly until adulthood, and maybe thereafter.
  8. May be easier to housetrain.

Spayed Girls

  1. Generally more of a "Diva" and may have her own agenda.
  2. May sometimes mark her territory, even if spayed.
  3. May roam in pursuit of quarry (ex: rabbits, squirrels, etc.)
  4. More likely to sit back and watch kids.
  5. More likely to bark at strangers.
  6. More likely to challenge your authority almost daily until adulthood, and occasionally thereafter.
  7. More likely to take training time seriously, or to try to train you!
  8. May be more difficult to housetrain.
