Our puppies sold as breeding stock are sold on
co-ownership with the agreement that we will sign over full
ownership after the dog acquires a CHIC number.
We do not require a puppy sold as breeding stock to receive
certain scores on these tests for us to sign over full ownership,
we only require that they are tested and the results posted in
the OFA's public database. We feel that each breeder must make
their own decisions as to the "Knock-Out Factors" for their
breeding program, based on their personal beliefs and goals.
However, if a puppy we sell as breeding quality, fails to pass any
of the CHIC required tests and the puppy is returned to us by
the buyer, will we replace the puppy.
Our hope is that by posting all results it will encourage breeders
to be open with each other about health problems in our breed
and make informed decisions to improve future generations.
Currently the required tests to acquire a CHIC number are:
- OFA Hips or PennHip (on or after 24 mths of age)
- CERF Eyes (on or after 12 mths of age)
- MLS Test (at any age)
- OFA Thyroid OR OFA Cardiac (on or after 12 mth of age)
If you are not willing to acquire a CHIC number on your Beagle, please
do not bother contacting us about our Beagles for breeding purposes,
we are very passionate about health testing and are not willing to make
exceptions.
We do not place our Breeding Quality puppies into new homes
before the age of 4 months old.
Our breeding quality puppies 4 to 11 months of age:
- Have OFA Preliminary tested Hips
- Have Been Microchipped (and registered with HomeAgain)
- Are AKC & UKC registered
- Have Been AKC & UKC DNA Profiled
- Have Had a full shots series including Rabies
- Have Been OFA MLS Tested
- Have been OFA Factor VII Tested
- Are Up to date on wormings & heartworm/flea prevention
- Have had their Dewclaws removed
Breeding Quality Puppies 4 to 11 months of age are $1000
with full registration on co-ownership until the dog receives
his/her CHIC number and are sold with a "Breeding Contract".
